PRESS RELEASE

Roadmap to bus reform, could be just the ticket for Wales

TAN Cymru has welcomed the launch of the Welsh Government’s Roadmap to Bus Reform, “One Network, One Timetable, One Ticket”. [1]

TAN Cymru spokesperson Rhian Nowell-Phillips, said:

“This ambitious plan has the potential to revolutionise public transport in Wales. A single network with a unified timetable and ticketing system could be a game-changer. It will make public transport simpler and more accessible for all. This will increase passenger numbers and give people a real alternative to driving.”

However, TAN Cymru has emphasised the need for a realistic budget to accompany these proposals. Ms Nowell-Phillips said:

“To truly transform bus services in Wales, this ambitious plan needs to be backed by robust and sustained investment.”

“We urge the Welsh Government to commit the necessary resources to ensure that the proposals deliver the promised benefits to Welsh communities.”

TAN Cymru looks forward to working with the Welsh Government and others to ensure that the proposals deliver real alternatives to the car in Wales.
