Transport shapes our lives, our communities and our environment. But for too long, the government has prioritised building more and bigger roads over investing in better alternatives.

Transport Action Network is challenging that approach. We campaign for a transport system that works for people and the planet - one that reduces pollution and carbon emissions, makes our streets safer, supports walking, cycling and public transport, and creates healthier, more connected communities.

We turn evidence into action, challenge poor decisions and bring people together to demand better.

From challenging damaging road schemes and holding the government to account, to influencing national policy and supporting communities to have their voices heard, our work is helping shift the debate about what transport investment should deliver.

We measure our impact not just in campaigns won, but in roads stopped, money redirected, policies changed, communities empowered and a growing public demand for a better transport future.

Together, we’re making the case for transport that puts people, places and the planet before more traffic.

Highlights

Since TAN was founded in 2019, The Foundation for Integrated Transport (FIT) has financially supported our work. In early 2026, FIT’s trustees commissioned an external review to evaluate the key impacts of our work. The review confirmed our powerful impact in supporting local communities through our campaign work.

According to CAG Consultants: 'The evaluation found multiple outcomes where Transport Action Network’s contribution was assessed as critical or highly significant' including our 'strong integration of national expertise with local grassroots campaigning.'
