Working with local groups across the country, we helped save over £4 billion and 8 million tonnes of carbon in 2024 through the scrapping of seven damaging road schemes. Plus, we stopped the Conservative government completely slashing active travel funding.

But there is more to do.

2025 is going to be critical for our future. A lot of big decisions are going to be made that will impact us all for a long time.

Key decisions this year:

• Carbon intensive road schemes, such as the £10 billion Lower Thames Crossing
• A legally compliant Carbon Budget Delivery Plan
• An integrated national transport strategy
• A draft roads programme (Road Investment Strategy - RIS3)
• Further planning reform
• Buses Bill
• Devolution and more!

In addition, we have some big legal challenges coming up in the Spring that could have national implications:

• Active travel funding in England - to stop the Government from cutting funding on a whim without proper consultation.
• The roads policy (National Networks National Planning Statement, NNNPS) - to stop the Government ignoring carbon in planning decisions on roads.
